Monaco seal last-ditch loan deal for Arsenal linked defender

Stade Louis II Monaco

Claudio Ranieri’s men have tied up a deal to bring Toulouse’s highly rated centre-half Aymen Abdennour to the Stade Louis II on loan.

Arsenal fans had to make do with the loan signing of Kim Kallstrom in the January transfer window, as moves for countless other reported targets fell by the wayside.

One man that has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the past is highly rated centre-half Aymen Abdennour, who has been a standout for Toulouse in Ligue 1.

However, the Gunners have seen that ship sail also, as Monaco have confirmed a deal to bring the Tunisia international to the Principality on loan for the rest of the season.

If the 24-year-old suitably impresses, Monaco will have the option to sign him on a four-year contract in the summer.

Abdennour has admitted that he is delighted to have moved to the title-chasing outfit.

"I am very proud, Monaco are a great club, very professional, with excellent staff, great players and great ambition," he told the club's official website.

"I am ready to help my team-mates. I will do everything to succeed. We have a special purpose."
