The transfer window is shut - and while for many it proved an opportunity to move on and find pastures new for some projected moves collapsed.
One such player was Lorient striker Jeremie Aliadiere.
Aliadiere came through the ranks at Arsenal FC and he was immediately compared to the clubs then star striker, Thierry Henry.
However his time in North London was forever blighted by injury problems and he soon moved on to Middlesbrough.
When his time was up in the North East it looked as though his persistent knee injuries had finally got the better of him - and after disappearing for a year it was assumed he had retired from the game.
That however was not the case.
He turned up at Lorient - and almost three years later he is looking like a top talent once again.
Last term was his best yet - and it looked like his outstanding performances were going to earn him a move to Marseille before Friday’s transfer deadline.
It is believed that he has informed his team-mates that he is on his way out of the club - to join up with Marseille.
Marseille boss Jose Anigo seemed to confirm the transfer - as a replacement for Saber Khelifa who was off for a new career in Qatar.
"I know that there have been contacts that have been established…it is under discussion. Yes, it's a good profile is a good player, but Khalifa is a good player too. If Khalifa is not in agreement with his club in Qatar, we gladly keep. If he leaves, we gladly welcome Jeremie Aliadiere ...”
But the deal collapsed.
Khalifa could not agree a move to Al Jaish before the deadline and therefore Marseille did not move for Aliadiere.
Aliadiere, who has reportedly said goodbye to his Lorient team-mates, was to remain at the club.
And today he showed that it had not affected him.
