Arsenal fans were certainly hoping for something more - but it never came.
The Gunners were active on the final day of the January Transfer Window but the only arrival was an uninspiring one by all accounts.
Kim Kallstrom arrives on a six-month loan to add midfield coverage after the injury to Aaron Ramsey.
Meanwhile apparent late bids to bring in Miroslav Klose, Salomon Kalou and Papiss Cisse all fell to the wayside before 11pm - Kallstrom was it.
It has seen many an Arsenal fan be critical of Arsene Wenger’s apparent desire, especially amid reports he was the one who vetoed the signing of Julian Draxler for £36 million.
But not everyone is being as critical of the move.
Ian Wright is a legend at Arsenal Football Club. He scored 158 goals for the club and until Thierry Henry smashed it he held the goalscoring record at the club.
Nowadays he is a coach at MK Dons and occasional pundit for ITV Sport - and he is still as opinionated as ever.
He is never one to mince his words and although he, like many, was upset to see no strikers arrive in the winter - he was also still behind his former boss to get it right at the club.
He posted on his official Twitter account today…
Some of you AFC fans make me laugh !!!! We are top of the league and he signs a 31yr old on loan! And tried to sign Kalou!!! #blockingidiots— Ian Wright (@IanWright0) February 1, 2014
Well we have to trust Arsene. Hopefully he'll prove SOME of us wrong. COYG.— Ian Wright (@IanWright0) February 1, 2014
Only time will tell if Arsene Wenger really has done the ‘Wright’ business.
