One deal that flew under the radar slightly on transfer deadline day was Joshua Guilavogui’s return to Saint Etienne on loan.
The 23-year-old signed a five-year contract with the Spanish capital city outfit, but has admitted that he is glad to have return to his boyhood club.
"I'm really happy to be back in Saint-Etienne,” he told the club’s official website.
“The club has made a very big effort. I take my hat off to Christophe Galtier, who has been instrumental in my coming back. ASSE is in heart. This is where I flourished.
“Upon my arrival, I found the love that I have always carried. This is a beautiful challenge. I am looking forward to my teammates and the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium with the new team.
“I want to make my contribution to the club. Even though I have not played as much as I hoped, I progressed in my first six months at Atletico."
Capped five times for France, Guilavogui has an outside chance of making Laurent Blanc’s World Cup squad.
