Nicolas Otamendi saw him move to Valencia fall through at the last moment.
Nicolas Otamendi was due a busy deadline day, but remaining at FC Porto hadn't appeared a likely option for him.
Yet what actually happened to said bid, or if it as indeed even lodged at all, remains a bit of a mystery.
There was other interest in Otamendi, however, in the form of Spanish side Valencia.
Los Che had attempted to sign the centre-back on loan, and it appeared late on that the switch was very much on the cards.
Yet as revealed by Valencia based newspaper SuperDeporte last night, the club did not manage to get the deal agreed in time for the transfer deadline.
Otamendi remains at Porto, alongside teammates Fernando and Eliaquim Mangala, who were tipped to join Manchester City in a €45 million double deal.
As for Valencia, they did manage to acquire one centre-back, signing Phillipe Senderos from Fulham.
As for Otamendi, who will miss Porto's game with Maritimo this weekend with a minor injury, he will have to wait until the summer to make his eventual exit from the Dragao.
