Three players who Newcastle United could sign on Deadline Day

Clement Grenier

Lyon, Montpellier and Queens Park Rangers stars all feature.

The dust has settled on Yohan Cabaye’s move to Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United still have a chance to do some business today.

Alan Pardew is a manager who has lost key players on this day in the past, but the club are in a good position to go out and seek extra squad strength before the transfer deadline ticks over this evening.

We’ve taken a look at the rumours and have come up with three potential deadline day deals the Toon may just pull off.

Clement Grenier (Lyon)

Grenier has been touted as a possible replacement for Cabaye.

The 23-year-old’s contract doesn’t expire until the summer of 2016 so there could be haggling over a fee and negotiations which will take up valuable time.

The player has suggested he’s likely to stay at Lyon but reports are suggesting that a fee of around £11 million may be enough to get the job done.

Remy Cabella (Montpellier)

Cabella is someone who Newcastle have reportedly been tracking for most of this month.

The 23-year-old also has a deal which expires in 2016 and the Ligue One side are under no pressure to sell, which could make a deal difficult.

Cabella’s father (also his agent) said earlier this month that his son would become a Newcastle player so it’s not an impossible deal.

“Yes we are negotiating for Remy and yes he will join Newcastle this winter,” his Dad told Actuafoot.

Loic Remy (Queens Park Rangers)

It could be substantially easier for the Toon to do a permanent deal for Loic Remy, a player already playing for them, and give QPR funds to fund their own deadline activity.

Remy is on loan with the side for the rest of the season and Pardew is thought to be keen on signing him on a long term basis.

The problem is that reports earlier this week suggested that Remy wanted to wait and assess his options after the World Cup this summer.
