According to Sky Sports this morning, Swans boss Michael Laudrup is keen to snap up the 21-year-old senior Ghana international. Schlupp has been at Leicester City since the age of 12 before going on loan to Brentford in 2011.
However, his reputation grew upon his taking up a trial opportunity last year at Manchester United after Leicester agreed to the let the eventual Premier League champions take a look at their young prospect.
Schlupp even featured for the Red Devils, then still under the reign of Sir Alex Ferguson, in two U21 matches – he was understood to be ‘on the verge’ of signing for United who opted to wait until the summer transfer window in 2013 to bring him to Old Trafford but upon Ferguson’s retirement, the youngster’s move failed to materialize.
He is a versatile player, capable of playing as a left-back, left midfielder or even a forward on either flank.
Now it appears Michael Laudrup sits alongside Ferguson as an admirer of the Leicester youngster who has now played two and a half seasons in the Championship.
Swansea have reportedly offered Leicester £2.5 million such is their faith in the German-born Ghana international’s ability and potential.
He was named Leicester City Academy Player of the Year for 2010/11 before breaking into the first-team later that year with the Foxes.
