Manchester United have made the biggest move so far of the January Transfer Window - with Juan Mata arriving from Chelsea for £37.1 million.
The move was a much needed one for the club - and already appears to have had a positive effect on the side, in a similar way to how Mesut Ozil’s arrival at Arsenal in the summer lifted that camp.
Today however is of course Transfer Deadline Day - and at the moment there appears to be nothing in particular going on in regards to potential incomings at United today.
Yes it seems that Manchester United fans might just be left disappointed if they are glued to Jim White before 11pm this evening.
And one person with big United links who seems to agree is Gary Neville.
The Sky Sports pundit and former United right-back stalwart was on Sky Sports News this morning chatting about his views on his former club’s potential activity on Deadline Day.
“Well they do need more signings whether they get them or not is another matter. They’ll obviously be targeting players. In the summer when Manchester United made bids for players obviously it was quite public and everybody was aware of it. So I would say at this moment in time, the way in which football works now, the agents and people around I would say that they haven’t made bids for players because we would have heard about it. So at this moment in time they mustn’t feel they can get their hands on the players they want … but I wouldn’t rule anything out.”
United have been tentatively linked with a big move for Toni Kroos on Deadline Day - but that no longer seems to be likely in this current window.
So it seems, as far as Neville is confirmed, that United are not on the verge of signing any new players today - even if they need them.
But as he signed off with … do not rule anything out on Transfer Deadline Day.
