Spartak Moscow have reportedly confirmed Arsenal wish to complete a loan move for Kim Kallstrom.

Arsenal fans woke up this morning to reports claiming the Gunners were interested in signing Spartak Moscow midfielder Kim Kallstrom. And now further information about a potential deal has been revealed.

The Metro has published quotes from the Russian club’s official Dmitri Popov, in which he confirms Arsenal are interested in bringing the Swedish international to the Emirates Stadium.

Popov is quoted as saying, “Arsenal want to sign Kim.

“Our sporting director Roman Askhabadze has been speaking to Arsenal. It is a loan deal until the end of the season.”

The report concludes with the claim that Arsenal also have the option to make the deal permanent next summer.

Kallstrom is not the player many Gunners fans would have expected to be joining their team, given some of the names linked with them this month. But he could be a necessity given the injury problems and suspensions Wenger needs to contend with in the weeks and months to come.

In fact given Kallstrom’s experience, a loan deal could be an outstanding piece of business, if it gets over the line.
