Some of the latest transfer speculation / news involving Tottenham Hotspur as the deadline approaches.
Swansea City are said to be interested in taking winger Nacer Chadli to the Liberty Stadium. Chadli joined Spurs in the summer for £7m from FC Twente. That could be unlikely, however, given that Spurs have allowed Lewis Holtby to join Fulham on loan until the end of the season.
Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood has said that Holtby still has a future at White Hart Lane despite having to leave to get first team football.
Sherwood is quoted, saying: ‘Has he got a future here ? I think he has, yes. It will be great for him now at Fulham to play regular football.
‘I can’t see him not playing regular football in Fulham’s side, and he will benefit from the half a season he’s got left playing in the Premier League. We look forward to welcoming him back in the summer'.
In terms of signings before the deadline, Sherwood said there is ‘zero’ chance of that happening, although Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has asked if Sherwood wanted the squad strengthening.
‘Daniel’s asked if I want to strengthen in this area or need any help, but I’m confident with the players we’ve got. I don’t need anyone else, thank you very much. It’s not always the way, just to buy players. We need to put things together like a jigsaw here, and I’ve got real trust in the players we’ve got', Sherwood said.
One deal that could have taken place - but didn’t - was a potential swap deal involving Andros Townsend to Manchester United for Nani. According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United boss David Moyes was keen on the move, but Tottenham wouldn't play ball.
