Lawrenson: 'Shaw sale wouldn't be a problem for Southampton'

Is he right?

Luke Shaw has been constantly linked with a move away from Southampton throughout this transfer window.

The 18-year-old Southampton left-back has been linked with a move away from the Saints with Chelsea and Manchester United said to be interested.

And Match of the Day pundit Mark Lawrenson has said it shouldn’t be a problem for the south coast club if Shaw were to be sold before tonight’s deadline.

Lawrenson said on the BBC’s live blog: ‘Southampton left-back Luke Shaw is in demand but I don’t see it being a problem for the Saints if he does get sold before the window shuts.

‘Even if he signs for Chelsea, Manchester United or whoever, then he will probably be loaned back to St Mary’s until the end of the season.

‘If anything, that would be perfect for Shaw too because he will have his big move and it will be up to him when he’s going to go.’

However, things seem a little quiet on the Luke Shaw front so far as he looks set to remain a Southampton player until the end of the season.

Though he is highly rated by many commentators and pundits, plus several clubs are admirers of him. So if he were to leave in the near future it may be the summer and not this window.
