After West Ham and QPR failed, Catania could sign Inter man

The lengthy transfer saga involving Inter striker Ishak Belfodil could finally be resolved with a loan move to Catania.

Both Queens Park Rangers and West Ham appeared to have wrapped up a deal for Ishak Belfodil at different points of the winter transfer window, but now he looks likely to stay in Italy.

The 22-year-old was on the radar for West Ham but then appeared to choose Championship side QPR instead.

West Ham turned to Roma marksman Marco Borriello instead and QPR prepared to agree personal terms with Belfodil.

But Belfodil wasn't convinced by a move to Loftus Road and his agent didn't accept the offer on the table, leaving a third option most likely.

Sky Sport Italia reports that Serie A strugglers Catania are now closing in on completing a loan swoop to bring Belfodil to Sicily for the rest of the season.

The ex-Parma man has been told he can leave Inter temporarily as he doesn't feature in coach Walter Mazzarri's immediate plans.

However, time is running out for a loan to be agreed otherwise Belfodil may spend most of the next few months warming the bench at San Siro.

Catania will talk to Inter and Belfodil later today in an attempt to quickly complete a deal and QPR now look unlikely to welcome him to West London unless they are willing to up their wage offer significantly.
