Dinamo Zagreb youngster Alen Halilovic has attracted the attentions from Europe’s biggest clubs – including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Dinamo Zagreb’s Alen Halilovic has been touted for big things in his career. A player dubbed ‘the next Luka Modric’ by coaches and journalists alike in his native Croatia – he will be a star.

The 17-year-old has already been the subject of a reported bid from La Liga giants Barcelona – with Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo quoting:

"Dinamo Zagreb president (Zdravko Mamic) said that we have a written offer from Barcelona for Halilovic including variables of 15 million euros."

However, a proposed money-spinning transfer for the Croatian club has yet to materialise.

The central midfielder made his debut for Dinamo Zagreb in September 2012 at just 16 years and 101 days – making him the youngest ever player to represent the club.

Two months after his initial debut, Halilovic came off the bench to net the last goal in a 4-1 romp of Slaven Belupo – making him the youngest ever goalscorer in the history of the league at the age of just 16 years and 112 days.

Since September 2012, Halilovic has gone on to represent his club in the Champions League as well as picking up three international caps for the national side – an incredible feat.

The interest in the player has reached as far as Real Madrid – a side notorious in buying the finished article rather than upcoming talent.

According to Spanish source Elgoldigital, Dinamo’s sporting director has made it clear that Haliliovic will continue to grow in Zagreb and Europe’s finest will have to wait – predicting the player’s value to increase further over the next few years:

“The clubs will have to wait. We have no intentions of selling him despite being questioned because he is only 17-years-old, imagine what he will be like with another 5-years with us”

Will Dinamo Zagreb be able to resist the huge sums thrown at them – with the hope of the youngster continuing his progression? Time will tell whether the gamble pays off.
