Fiorentina’s new on-loan midfielder Anderson has responded to a bizarre question over his sexual preference.
According to Portuguese press O Jogo, Anderson was asked a rather bizarre question at a press conference in Florence.
The 25-year-old moved to Fiorentina on-loan until the end of the season after seeing his options at Old Trafford limited changing his name to Andow in the process.
Anderson has since expressed his delight at the move – adding that he wants to convince people to stay for the long term:
“Here in Florence there is a great project that convinced me to come,” Anderson has mused.
“I’m pleased to be a part of Fiorentina, a club that is fighting to be one of the top teams in Europe.”
“I’m here to convince people and to stay for the long term,”
However, during the press conference on Thursday, Anderson was bizarrely questioned on his sexual preference following rumours from the public. The Brazilian seemed surprised by the question, responding:
"It's the first time I have heard about this story. I respect gay people, but I like women. I have four kid. That is why we have no television at home ...,"
A Bola went further, quoting the player as saying:
“As a Brazilian player I have loved women throughout my life”
Perhaps the question posed was a way in which the press can get to know ‘the real Anderson’ and was standard practice for new players at Fiorentina. Either way, Anderson responded with respect and valour in a way which will adorn him to his new fans.
