A round up of the latest transfer and news stories about Liverpool from the past 24 hours.
In transfer news, Dnipro have confirmed a Liverpool bid for winger Yevhen Konoplyanka. The offer is reported to be in the region of £16 million as Liverpool look to make an attacking addition to their squad after missing out on Mohamed Salah to Chelsea.
It’s a deal that Liverpool may have to get done and dusted quickly, as several reports have suggested Tottenham Hotspur could try and hijack the deal before the close of the window tomorrow.
A Portuguese TV station has claimed Manchester City are about to trump Liverpool and Manchester United to the signing of Fernando. Liverpool are one of the sides reported to have been interested in the FC Porto star, who could be set for a late move to the Etihad Stadium.
TalkSport claims that Liverpool are still maintaining their interest in Barcelona wide man Isaac Cuenca. Cuenca is training with the Barcelona first team although Gerardo Martino has not ruled out the possibility he could leave the Nou Camp.
“He is training. We will see if he stays here or gets the chance to play elsewhere.” Said the Barca boss.
The rumours keep on coming ahead of tomorrow with Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan also suggested as a possible target for the club. The Express reported earlier this week that Liverpool were considering a late bid for Turan, with interest also coming from Manchester City.
Former Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow has urged the club to be careful with their spending as the transfer deadline draws in. He says Liverpool need to be more cautious when identifying their targets.
“I think the issue there is you probably want to be a little bit more cautious about flagging critical targets in such an intensely competitive market,” he told TalkSport.
In other news, striker Daniel Sturridge has revealed that his love for the Anfield club continues to grow alongside his good form for the senior side.
“The love I have for this club just grows and grows more and more each day and I can only thank the fans for embracing me in the way that they have,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes that his old side are still in the hunt for the Premier League title. Carragher claims that the combination of Suarez and Sturridge has the ability to power the team to first place.
“If they continue the way they are going Liverpool will take some stopping. As a partnership, they are the best in the Premier League. You look at Chelsea and they would love to have one of them as their centre-forward and they’re going for the title,” he told TalkSport.
