Chelsea are said to be closing in on the signing of Kurt Zouma, according to reports in France this Thursday.
RMC Sport report: "Kurt Zouma should wear the shirt of Chelsea next season. AS Saint-Etienne and the London club have indeed reached an agreement of around €15m on the transfer of central defender of Les Verts.
"The player has chosen the team of Jose Mourinho but there are still some details to be finalized. The agreement between the three parties should be found in the coming hours.
"Even if it has not reached an agreement with the Blues so far, the player prefers this track."
RMC add that Zouma is not expected to join up with Chelsea until next season, with it unclear whether he will be loaned back to the French club, or the transfer date will simply be fixed for the summer.
The Mirror had reported last night the transfer of the central defender was 'in the balance' with Saint-Etienne claiming they were under no pressure to sell unless their demands were met.
The French side were said to be holding out for around €21 million, but the fact they will keep the player until the end of the season is likely reason for their compromise.
Chelsea are yet to comment on the reports, while Jose Mourinho claimed earlier this week no player would be arriving at the club this January.
Zouma is one of the most highly rated young defenders in Europe, already a French international at 19.
