Arsenal latest: 'Very sure' Draxler will not leave; Vucinic ruled out in bad day at market

Mirko Vucinic

All the latest news and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates Stadium.

The day started with such promise for Arsenal in the Transfer Market - it looks like it shall end in disappointment.

Despite reports Mirko Vucinic and Julian Draxler could be on the way to The Emirates in the next 24 hours - it now looks as though neither deal will be going through before the deadline.

Schalke 04 have insisted that Draxler is not going anywhere this month.

Sporting director Horst Heldt stated today:

"I am very sure that Julian will play in the second half for us - and probably beyond. We are not interested in letting Julian go and he has also not come to us with the wish to leave the club. Of course, there is always interest in him and if someone was to come and make a serious offer for him, then we would have to deal with that professionally.”

A deal for Draxler then appears unlikely this month.

Meanwhile Vucinic himself has ruled out an exit from Juventus.

The Montenegrin has been linked with a loan deal until the end of the season - however he has ruled out such a move:

“I will not accept any destination. I want to stay and I want to give my contribution to the team."

It is believed he wanted to remain in Italy - but a deal to Inter Milan fell through last week and only Arsenal and Valencia appeared keen.

He will now spend the rest of the season in Turin with the Bianconeri.

However Arsene Wenger has admitted they are active - so hope remains players could arrive this month:

“Are we active? Yes. Are we close to sign anybody? No. There's not long now that's true. First, the situation was going like always in a transfer market - week by week. In the last two weeks it goes day by day, now it goes hour by hour. In any hour anything can happen or change but at the moment, unfortunately, we are not signing anybody.”

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi is set to snub Arsenal interest in his services and sign a new deal in the French capital.

It is believed Arsenal have now turned their attentions to Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin - but would baulk at his £15 million price-tag.
