Transfer Clock: Arsenal Draxler ultimatum; Shock Milan bid; Brazilian striker to West Brom?

Adel Taarabt

Arsenal, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion, Fulham, Newcastle and Southampton feature.

28 days down, three to go until the Transfer Window closes. Here are five of the developing stories of the past 24 hours...

1) With time running out, Arsenal have reportedly made a 'take it or leave it' offer for Julian Draxler of £24.7 million, report The Star. The bid is likely to be rejected by the German side, but Arsenal hope various add-ons will make it tempting. They claim Draxler has told Arsenal he wants to join up. The problem is Schalke can hold out until the summer, and demand £37 million, a release clause in his contract which cannot be activated mid-season. The Mirror report Alvaro Morata and Cristian Tello of Real Madrid and Barcelona are still being considered as alternatives.

2) Fulham loanee Adel Taarabt has emerged as a shock target for Italian giants AC Milan. The interest in the QPR owned midfielder was revealed by Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen to SkySports after the club's 2-0 loss to Swansea City. Meulensteen dropped Taarabt for the game, hinting he was not in the right frame of mind to feature. QPR once rejected a bid from PSG for the attacking midfielder in summer 2012.

3) West Brom are preparing a bid for Valencia striker Jonas, report SkySports. The Brazilian has nine goals in 18 starts this season, and partnered Tottenham's Roberto Soldado last season. New Baggies manager Pepe Mel knows the player well from his La Liga experience, although Valencia's need or willingness to sell would come at a sizeable price, which West Brom could consider too much for a 29-year-old. Jonas was linked to Everton and West Ham earlier this transfer window.

4) Newcastle are poised to sign Luuk de Jong on loan from Borussia Moenchengladbach, with the Dutch striker set to undergo a medical on Wednesday, report SkySports. Alan Pardew confirmed the news after Newcastle's draw with Norwich on Tuesday evening. Soon-to-be former Newcastle star Yohan Cabaye will be unveiled as a PSG player on Wednesday in a 6pm press conference in Paris.

5) Southampton have opened talks with Juventus over loaning troublesome striker Dani Osvaldo to the Serie A champions and league leaders. Osvaldo has been suspended by the Saints over a training ground bust-up with defender Jose Fonte. The Mirror report Juventus are willing to pay a £500,000 loan fee now ahead of a proposed £10 million summer deal.
