Sochaux have been struggling in Ligue 1 this year, currently sitting second from bottom in the table, and Corchia has decided to jump ship midway through the season. The right-back's contract was due to expire next summer but Sochaux have decided to cash in on the highly-rated defender now.
Arsenal had been linked with the 23-year-old many times before. Just a few months ago The Express reported that Corchia admitted a move to Arsenal in January was a possibility. Tottenham Hotspur were also apparently interested in the Frenchman along with Marseille, and Lyon.
The Arsenal right-back problem has long been talked about this season with Bacary Sagna's contract expiring at the end of the season. Sagna is reported to have a lot of admirers and he is reportedly open to discussing a move away from the Emirates. Manchester City are the latest club to be linked with signing Sagna, but with Corchia sealing a move to Lille, Arsene Wenger may have to sort of contract negotiations with Sagna.
Sagna has been at the club for six and a half years and reportedly feels he deserves another long-term contract to reward his services to the club. Wenger is always wary when it comes to contracts with players over 30 though, and Sagna turns 31 next month.
The Daily Star reports that Sagna has already had huge offers from Monaco and Galatasaray that would see his wages double. At the age of 31, Sagna will know that this summer could represent his last chance for a big money move, rather than committing to Arsenal for another two years perhaps.
Sagna has been loyal and committed to the cause at Arsenal, whilst others have left for more lucrative deals, yet he has been on the same contract since 2008. Is it time Wenger gives Sagna the contract he deserves?
