Modibo Diakité is said to be keen to quit Sunderland for a Serie A return and Fiorentina are in pole position for his signature.
The towering centre-back joined Sunderland on a free transfer last summer after seven years at Lazio and 83 appearances for the Biancocelesti.
But Diakité hasn't really adapted to life in the Premier League and hasn't been able to command a regular starting spot at the Stadium of Light.
So a return to the familiar surroundings of Italy looks to be the best bet and the 26-year-old has reportedly attracted a bid from Fiorentina, who are looking to strengthen their defence and have been linked with Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic amongst others.
Another Serie A side, Parma, are also believed to be interested in Diakité, but Fiorentina could complete a deal before the Ducali can make their move.
Parma are also a smaller outfit than Fiorentina and despite being on excellent form, the Emilia-Romagna side are unlikely to be able to match the Gigliati's offer.
Di Marzio believes that Diakité has his bags packed and is ready to call time on his English experience.
