The next generation of German talent is shaping up nicely, with Julian Draxler, Patrick Herrmann, Matthias Ginter and Kevin Volland at the forefront.
All are players who have at one stage or another been linked with moves to the Premier League, with Volland tipped in December for both Arsenal and Liverpool by The Mirror.
The German under-21 captain is a right winger who plays for Hoffenheim, who are struggling in 13th in the Bundesliga this season.
This is despite his best efforts, the 21-year-old has eight goals and four assists to his name to date.
If any Premier League club do have serious aspirations to sign him, then they have tough competition for his signature in the form of Borussia Dortmund.
BILD report that Dortmund have made initial plans regarding a €15 million summer bid, in the knowledge that Hoffenheim will not sell now but will have to seriously consider doing so in a few months as they are unlikely to be able to match Volland's ambition and potential.
While linked to Arsenal, Volland would surely be a far better fit at Liverpool, given Arsenal's plentiful options on the right hand side - in the form of Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gnabry.
For Liverpool he is an attainable and affordable target, and they may have to lay the groundwork over the coming months to avoid Dortmund stealing a march, the club who beat them to the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the summer.
