Derby County fans purr over Chelsea youngster after 3-2 comeback win

On loan Patrick Bamford scored to help Derby County to a 3-2 win against Yeovil Town.

On loan Chelsea star Patrick Bamford scored a vital goal for loan side Derby County as they came from two goals behind to win 3-2 against Yeovil Town last night.

Bamford is one of Chelsea’s most talented young forwards and the decision to send the 20-year-old on loan to Derby over the second half of the season is looking more and more like a master stroke.

Bamford’s all round performance last night was solid and has got Derby fans purring with excitement at the player they have to aid their promotion push as they look to get back into the Premier League.

One Derby County fans forum ran a thread which saw him awarded 8/10 for his performance by supporters, creating a debate over whether he was man of the match in his side’s dramatic comeback.

"More involved than anyone else in the opening exchanges, as he displayed a wonderful touch and vision, as well as good feet. Second half, he scored the vital first goal with a diving header. After watching it back at home, his movement was brilliant to get into the position to score," wrote one fan.

The challenge for the youngster is going to be how he reacts when teams find effective ways to keep him quiet in games.

The thing which will make or break his potential progress into the Chelsea first team is how he reinvents himself in the face of challenges, to ensure that he stays effective and productive for the team he’s representing.

He’s a very exciting young talent to watch for both Derby and Chelsea fans at the moment.
