Chelsea SMASH a new record for the season…

Stamford Bridge Outside

Chelsea's bombardment of shots against West Ham United in the Premier League earlier this evening set a new record for the season.

Chelsea's match with London rivals West Ham United on Wednesday, January 29 set a new record for the season as, at Stamford Bridge, the Blues attempted an astonishing 39 shots on goal - nine of which were on target, yet none passed the line and into the net.

It is not a record Jose Mourinho, famed for his resilience and undefeated streak at Stamford Bridge, will want but the 39 shots without a goal far surpasses the previous record set by Norwich City when the Canaries hosted Cardiff City in the ninth match-week, where 31 shots were attempted with not even one yielding a goal.

Interestingly, Chelsea are also the only team to appear twice on the list below of most shots in a match with no goals, as their trip to Goodison Park in the fourth match-week saw Mourinho's attempt 22 shots on goal with nothing to show for their efforts.
