All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Emirates Stadium…
The Frenchman is in the final year of his contract and as a result will be a free agent next summer. However, with the Gunners light in relatively midfield after injuries and suspensions, it is being reported by a number of media outlets including the Daily Mail that Arsene Wenger sees the 26-year-old as a viable option.
Goal went one further earlier today, when they claimed Arsenal had already approached PSG about a possible move and were willing to pay “a significant fee” to secure a player who has also been linked with Manchester City in recent days.
Any move is unlikely to occur until the summer, but with his current deal expiring in 2015, the player is said to be stalling over a contract-extension in light of the Gunners’ apparent interest.
Back to the Daily Mail now, which reports that Arsenal will be at a disadvantage when they face Bayern Munich in the last-16 of the Champions League because their FA Cup fifth-round match against Liverpool has been put back 24-hours for TV scheduling.
At this time of year, Arsenal know the games will be coming thick and fast, but it could be what they do (or don’t do) in the final throws of the January transfer window that decides just how easily they cope with the fixture congestion in the final months of the campaign.
