Transfer Talk: Featuring Costa, Courtois and Holtby

Transfer news from Chelsea, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Arsenal and Sunderland.

Chelsea may be considering a swap deal with Atletico Madrid, which will see Diego Costa move to Stamford Bridge with Thibaut Courtois going the other way. Courtois has constantly sought assurances from the Blues that he will return to Stamford Bridge as number one, not back up to Petr Cech.

Newcastle United have agreed a fee with Paris Saint-Germain for Yohan Cabaye. Newcastle rejected an initial £14 million offer from PSG but reports this morning have suggested that a deal, most likely around £20 million, has been agreed with the French side, with Cabaye set to have a medical.

Borussia Dortmund have emerged as favourites to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lewis Holtby. The Daily Mail has reported that Jurgen Klopp has urged officials to make a £5 million bid for the German before the close of the transfer window this week.

Manchester United remain linked with a move for FC Porto star Fernando. The Mirror has reported United’s interest and there is a chance Porto could offload the midfielder before the end of the week rather than risk losing him for free this summer, when his current contract expires.

United are involved in another story today, as Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos has refused to rule out a switch to Old Trafford.

“I am unable to rule anything out. I am under contract with Bayern Munich (until June 2015). Actually there are yet no further talks (regarding a new contract) scheduled,” said the 24-year-old German.

New Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has confirmed the Spanish side’s interest in signing goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen from Borussia Monchengladbach. Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the 21-year-old.

“I can't say too much. It is true that he's [Ter Stegen] one of the keepers that we've followed, but we've also looked at others. There are a lot of good goalkeepers, but we have the best in the world here. What is unfortunate is that he has decided to leave the club next season,” Bartomeu is quoted by Goal.

Sunderland are expected to complete the signing of Ignacio Scocco. The 28-year-old is reportedly unhappy at Brazilian club Internacional and is expected to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Black Cats in a transfer worth around £4 million.
