Some of the key stories surrounding Tottenham Hotspur this Tuesday evening.

Spurs head coach Tim Sherwood has ruled out any signings from now until the transfer window closes on Friday night.

But he did hint there may still be some departures from the club before Friday, with Lewis Holtby being heavily linked with a move back to the Bundesliga and Etienne Capoue is being heavily linked with a move to Napoli.

Sherwood is quoted saying: ‘In all seriousness we’re not actively looking. Unless something drastically happens with the squad between now and Friday, then it will be.

‘I’m happy with the squad. We brought in seven players and I trust the players to take us forward until the end of the season.

‘I like Holtby – he is one of the best trainers we have got. They want to play and you have to be fair to the player. You need to do what is best for the club.

‘Capoue is also a good lad. He’s not given me a moment’s problem. If the opportunity arises then we will let the move on.’

Sherwood also told TalkSport that the Spurs squad welcomed Emmanuel Adebayor back into the fold with open arms, something which has since been rewarded with five league goals from Togolese forward.

Sherwood said: ‘I know him, I know what a good player he is and how good he’s been for Tottenham. There was little motivation needed to give him the stage to go out and play.’

QPR boss Harry Redknapp is confident of keeping hold of Spurs youngster Tom Carroll at Loftus Road until the end of the season, with Spurs able to recall the player this month.

Redknapp is quoted in West London Sport saying: ‘We’ve had no word from Tottenham about him going back, so everything looks okay.

‘We’re hopeful. You don’t know – Tim could pick up the phone at any time – but I’ve got a feeling he’s going to stay. Tim hasn’t rung me to say otherwise.’

Academy product Adam Smith has completed a permanent move to Bournemouth, a club where he previously had a loan spell. Smith made two appearances for Spurs.
