Another gaffe from Joe Kinnear

Joe Kinnear With A Newcastle Fan

The unpopular Joe Kinnear doesn't really help himself.

Newcastle United fans might have another reason to be upset with their hierarchy after a bid was accepted to take star midfielder Yohan Cabaye to Paris Saint Germain.

Earlier on in this transfer window Joe Kinnear was quoted saying: ‘I will not let any player leave Newcastle United in this transfer window.’

Though it is perhaps not surprising for fans of Newcastle to hear something from Kinnear to turn out to be the complete opposite as Cabaye gets closer to a move to the French Champions.

Kinnear is the man who came up with the infamous phone call where he got so many of the squad members’ names wrong – Cabaye included who referred to him as ‘Yohan Kebab.’

It raises further questions of Kinnear’s appointment at Newcastle even further, as it appears that his words are either empty or he isn’t doing anything to aid the club.

He came in with the promise of being able to pick up the phone to any football manager in order to help the club.

This quote and the subsequent developments in Cabaye’s situation is further evidence that Kinnear is a figure that seems untrustworthy to both the fans at Newcastle and the wider footballing world.

Though one thing does seem to be delivered upon is that new signings would be ‘in nearly all cases’ in their early to mid-20’s with Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk De Jong – whether that is actually Kinnear’s work is a different matter entirely.
