A round up of the latest transfer stories and rumours about Everton.
Ajax star Ricardo van Rhijn has played down stories linking him with a move to Everton. The 21-year-old has made 59 appearances for the Dutch giants, establishing himself as one of the best full backs in the Eredivisie.
“It's everywhere in the news. It would be nice if they are interested, but for now I am happy here in Amsterdam,” he told AT5.
Everton have reportedly join Arsenal and Liverpool in monitoring Nottingham Forest star Jamaal Lascelles. The Daily Mail has suggested that the Toffees have made an official enquiry to the Championship club over the 20-year-old.
Everton have also been linked with Sheffield United star Diego de Girolamo. The Daily Mail has claimed that Everton had scouts watching the 18-year-old play in an under-21 fixture against Crewe Alexandra at Crewe’s training ground yesterday.
A story on Bwin’s website has claimed that Everton are considering a move for Feyenoord youngster Bruno Martins Indi. The 21-year-old can operate down the left hand side, which would be useful for the Toffees as they prepare for a second half of the season without Bryan Oviedo.
A report yesterday morning claimed Fulham were looking to beat Everton to the signing of Valencia midfielder Sergio Canales. Everton are thought to be keen on signing the 22-year-old on a loan deal, with Valencia open to letting him leave ahead of a possible permanent deal in the summer.
Leighton Baines says he couldn’t be happier after signing a new deal with the club. Baines put pen to paper on a new four-year contract to end speculation that he might join Premier League champions Manchester United.
“I am delighted to have agreed the new deal. I am very happy at Everton and always have been. It’s a fantastic football club and I’m excited about what we can achieve in the next few years,” he told Everton’s website.
