Chelsea tell Bayern to 'name the price' for Manchester United linked Kroos

Chelsea could pull out all the stops to bring Manchester United target Toni Kroos to Stamford Bridge.

Norwegian TV presenter Jan Aage Fjortoft claims Chelsea have told Bayern Munich to name their price for German International Toni Kroos and assured the player that wages are no issue.

Manchester United were strongly linked with a possible move for the 24-year-old after Bayern Munich admitted they were struggling to agree terms of a contract extension.

Speculation grew when David Moyes was pictured with the German's agent, but it seems like it could have been the incentive for Mourinho to storm in with Abramovich's money and offer whatever it takes to land the player.

Kroos is still under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2015, but with negotiations at breaking point, it's likely that Bayern Munich could cash in on one of their most promising talents.

The midfielder himself insisted that he remains open-minded about the future and indicated that he could still be at Bayern next season, even without signing a new deal.

''I can't rule out anything,'' he told Kicker.

''No talks are planned in the near future. I am fully focused on the Rueckrunde [second part of the bundesliga season] now.

''There are worse situations in life. I play for a top club, and under a top coach. I am pleased, and sometime in the future a decision will be made.''

The 24-year-old has been in sensational form so far this season, playing an integral part of Pep Guardiola's side and if Chelsea can entice Bayern into a transfer this window, he will undoubtedly be a huge loss to their Champions League ambitions.
