The report indicates that Liverpool had scouts on hand to wtch the talented duo on Friday, and that is the reasoning behind their interest. However, their trip was only half-successful as Jamaal Lascelles remained an unused sub for Nottingham Forest in their match against Preston.
Nevertheless, Karl Darlow was in fine form and pulled off a number of saves to keep the East Midland's side in the competition and would no doubt have impressed the scouts watching over his display.
Darlow, 22, has been the undisputed number one at Nottingham Forest since he was brought into the first team due to the departure of former fan favourite Lee Camp.
In a bizarre couple of weeks last season, he was loaned out to Walsall on the 1st January 2012, recalled on the 10th January and made his debut two days later on the 12th in a 2-1 win over Peterborough.
The whirlwind success of Darlow has caused people to name him as the best young goalkeeper outside the Premier League, which has caused the top teams to take interest.
Lascelles's route to the Nottingham Forest first team wasn't quite as straightforward and if not for an injury to Kelvin Wilson, he may still not have had a platform to showcase his abilities.
However, that has not stopped the interest in the England U20 defender, who reportedly was subject to a £5m bid from Arsenal in 2011.
Both players are tremendous talents and definitely ones to look out for the future. However, it stands to reason that with five days left in the window and a promotion push on the cards, Nottingham Forest will be reluctant to allow them to leave.
