A round up of the latest news and transfer stories about Liverpool.
Liverpool have a very long injury list ahead of the Merseyside derby against Everton tomorrow night. No fewer than seven first team stars are either out or doubtful for the game but defender Jon Flanagan and teenage winger Raheem Sterling could both return to the starting line-up.
Defender Kolo Toure is confident that the combination of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez will be enough to power the side to a win.
“With those two up front we can score goals any time. If we keep it tight they will do the job for us. It's up to us at the back and in midfield to defend strongly and ensure we don't concede goals,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool have also been handed a boost ahead of the game with Everton boss Roberto Martinez admitting he could have six key players out injured for the fixture.
“We’ve got a group of six players that we need to assess. They’re carrying a few knocks and injuries. Phil Jagielka had to come off at half-time against Stevenage and we have Sylvain Distin, Antolin Alcaraz, Seamus Coleman, Steven Pienaar and Ross Barkley,” said the Spaniard.
In transfer news, a familiar rumour which has popped up today relates to Liverpool star Daniel Agger. Rumours are once again appearing that former boss Rafa Benitez is interested in signing the Dane for Serie A giants Napoli and would consider sending Gokhan Inler the other way.
Brendan Rodgers has revealed there is a chance the club will try and do a permanent deal for Victor Moses at the end of the season.
“If he does really well for us there is a possibility we will want to have him permanently, but ultimately it is Chelsea’s decision because he is their player. I have seen improvements in his training,” said Rodgers as per the Daily Mirror.
Liverpool are being linked with a move for Atletico Madrid youngster Saul Niguez. The teenager is currently on loan with Rayo Vallecano and the Daily Mail claims Liverpool have already held talks with the midfielder’s father.
Niguez is seen as an alternative to Mohamed Salah along with Stuttgart star Alexandru Maxim. The Bundesliga attacking midfielder has 11 caps for Romania and has scored four goals with eight assists from 14 matches so far this season.
The Metro has reported that Manchester United are trying to do a deal for Liverpool’s FC Porto target Fernando. United’s £37 million acquisition of Juan Mata hasn’t put them off going after the 26-year-old this week according to the national daily newspaper.
In other news, Liverpool fans have urged Arsenal to scrap the £93 ticket price for the FA Cup clash between the sides. Fans of the club are concerned they will be priced out of attending the mega clash, with Arsenal one of the most expensive places to go and watch football in Europe.
