Roberto Martinez has reportedly identified Feyenoord's Bruno Martins Indi as the man to replace the injured Bryan Oviedo
Bryan Oviedo suffered an horrific injury in Everton's FA Cup fourth-round tie with Stevenage on Saturday. The Costa Rican ended up with a nasty double leg break that will keep him out of the rest of the season and the World Cup.
It is a huge blow to the player and the club as he had shown some real form since coming into the side. Initially replacing Leighton Baines when he was injured he impressed and then started playing in a more attacking role once Baines returned. Oviedo looked as if he could be a key player for the Toffees for the remainder of the season.
Oviedo scored his first goals for the club this season, his first coming against Stoke City and his second a late winner against Manchester United at Old Trafford. And Roberto Martinez isalready said to be looking at possibilities to fill the void left by Oviedo's injury.
The Sun reports that Everton could make a move for Feyenoord defender Bruno Martins Indi who could cost around £8million.
Martins Indi is only 21-years-old but has already amassed over 100 appearances for Feyenoord and has 12 caps for the Dutch national side. He may be open to the move as it could improve his chances of cementing a place in the Netherlands squad for the World Cup this summer.
Arsenal have been linked with the defender before but it now looks as if Everton are the front-runners for his signature. Martins Indi would join John Heitinga as the only other Dutchman in the squad although he may be leaving Goodison Park before the end of the window. Heitinga has only played once in the league under Martinez.
