Tottenham latest: Goalkeeper clarifies future; striker return unlikely

Some of the latest news involving Tottenham Hotspur this Monday evening.

While there may be speculation over the future of one goalkeeper, another has clarified his position and Heurelho Gomes has said he will be staying at White Hart Lane during this transfer window.

Gomes has been linked with a move away from the club, and there was some confusion when he posted a picture saying he was ‘off to Eindhoven’ with Hugo Lloris and Brad Friedel ahead of him in the pecking order.

But Gomes said on his Instagram page: ‘Everyone knows that PSV is very special for me and I hope that I can play there again one day, but it is not the case at the moment, I have been as professional as possible during the time I’m not playing.

‘Thank you so much for all the best wishes that I received from my Spurs fans and the welcome messages that I received from my PSV fans, but I’m not going anywhere yet! God bless you all!’

There has been no interest from any club for Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov according to West London Sport.

Tottenham have been linked with a move to try and bring Berbatov back to White Hart Lane, with Chairman Daniel Levy said to have been keen on a £1.5million deal for the Bulgarian forward.

Spurs come up against Manchester City on Wednesday and Christian Eriksen believes the squad is determined to right the wrong of the 6-0 hammering at the Etihad Stadium that City dished out earlier on in the season.

Eriksen is quoted on the Tottenham website, saying: ‘Hopefully we can put it right now. You can feel that now the game is getting closer. Everyone wants to be 110% for this game.

‘Everyone knows you have to be on your toes when you play City. You don’t even have to say it. We have to be at our top level and that’s what we want to achieve in this game.’
