Despite repeated statements that Southampton will not be selling academy graduate Luke Shaw, once again Mauricio Pochettino has responded to claims in the national media that Shaw will leave the club.
Of late, Shaw has been linked with megabucks moves to both Manchester United and Manchester City, whilst Chelsea are continually reported as being interested.
On Monday afternoon, Pochettino underlined the club's stance towards Shaw and any potential sales, after talks with club owner and chairman Katharina Liebherr.
Liebherr went on record last week to reassure fans, putting out a statement that promised that no first team players would be sold in the January window.
Pochettino today took that one step further.
“Southampton Football Club has no interest in selling him – not at this moment or in the summer. We have no intention.”
Shaw signed a five-year deal with the club on his 18th birthday during the club's pre-season tour of Spain in 2013.
He played the full ninety minutes in Saturday's two-nil win over Championship strugglers Yeovil Town, notching his 50th appearance for Southampton in the process.
Shaw is expected to be named in the starting line-up tomorrow night, as the Saints host Arsenal at St. Mary's Stadium.
