£83m swap deal - The only way United should ever send Januzaj to PSG

Manchester United have relied heavily on their teenage sensation Adnan Januzaj this season, but what would it take to sell him to Paris Saint-Germain?

The French club reportedly had a bid turned down for the starlet, who has been United's shining light in a difficult first season at Old Trafford for new manager David Moyes.

The former Anderlecht youngster burst onto the scene with a vital brace to help United see off Sunderland in a 2-1 win back in early October, announcing his arrival as one of the most promising teenagers in world football.

But his stunning displays for the Red Devils have now reportedly attracted the interest of big spending PSG – despite Januzaj only signing his first professional contract in October. United have allegedly told the Ligue 1 side that they will not even negotiate the sale of Januzaj, but what would it take for them to agree to his sale?

Losing a future star like Januzaj would be a monumental blow to United, but with the club currently in a rebuilding phase, would they be open to taking some PSG players in exchange in order to bring in even more quality players?

United have been linked with a plethora of big name stars in the run-up to the January transfer window, and while they landed Chelsea play-maker Juan Mata in a £37.1m swoop, the team still needs a significant overhaul, with many players expected to be heading in and out of Old Trafford in the coming months.

Two stars who have been linked with moves between PSG and United are winger Lucas and striker Edinson Cavani – who could cost a combined £83million given current market value according to transfermarkt.com. Lucas, a Brazil international, was believed to be a primary target for Sir Alex Ferguson in 2012, but has struggled to establish himself as a key player at the Parc des Princes, leading to speculation over his future.

Meanwhile, former Napoli star striker Cavani is allegedly unhappy in the French capital as manager Laurent Blanc continues to use the Uruguayan out wide in order to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the lone central striker, and despite only moving to PSG last summer for £54million, Cavani could pack his bags and leave the club – drawing interest from Manchester United.

United have to keep hold of Januzaj, but in the extremely unlikely event that the player suggested he would want to leave Old Trafford, manager Moyes has to ask for one – or both – of these PSG stars in order to make the deal worthwhile.

Cavani would give United yet another goal-scoring threat alongside the likes of Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney, while Lucas would be a direct replacement for Januzaj on the flanks, giving Moyes' side even more firepower as they look to bounce back from some disappointing results this season.
