Chelsea midfielder receives all-clear to complete move after injury doubts - report

The latest reports claim Michael Essien will leave Chelsea for AC Milan, after successfully coming through a second round of medical tests.

How quickly things can change. Just minutes ago, stories were rife claiming Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien had failed part of his medical prior to a proposed move to AC Milan.

But it is now being reported that the Ghana international has passed additional tests and his switch to Italy looks like going through after all.

The earlier reports – initially from La Repubblica – claimed Essien had failed his medical due to his knee, which had suffered considerably following two anterior cruciate ligament ruptures.

But the latest stories – this time from Sky Sport Italia and Corriere dello Sport – say Essien passed a second round of tests.

Football Italia has been keeping fans abreast of the situation for the last few hours, and it now seems Essien will get the move he was so looking forward to after all.

We can only hope a player who was once one of the very best in his position can perform to his potential in Serie A.
