Reports in Italy claim Michael Essien has failed his medical at AC Milan, and may now be sent back to Chelsea.
Football Italia has picked up on reports from La Repubblica claiming Essien failed tests on a knee that he had previously injured; something Milan were no doubt keen to test after the midfielder’s previous anterior cruciate ligament ruptures.
The report claims Essien had his medical on Saturday but is yet to sign a contract, with further tests set to be carried out before a final decision is made.
The Ghanaian has already spoken of his excitement at the move, saying in quotes published by the BBC, “I’m happy to be here. I will do my best for Milan and I hope to be ready to play.
“I spoke with Mr Seedorf two days ago. I cannot wait to be available.”
If the latest reports are true, he may be waiting a while longer, with the move now potentially in doubt.
