Most the questions surrounding the signing of Juan Mata have now been asked and answered. The Spanish midfielder felt his time at Chelsea had come to an end, and faced with the prospect of receiving £37.1 million for the player Chelsea were always likely to sell.
But one thing that is not yet confirmed … is what shirt number he will be wearing at the club.
Mata wore the number ten shirt while at Stamford Bridge but that number option is certainly taken at Old Trafford - where Wayne Rooney currently has dibs on that specific kit number.
So what are his other options?
It is not just a question on my … and the fan’s lips. Even one of the players at the club wants to know.
Rio Ferdinand has sent out a Tweet to his followers - asking them what number they think he should take.
He also offered his opinion on one such number.
What shirt number will @juanmata10 wear??? 7 is available....— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) January 26, 2014
Indeed the legendary digit is available - and Mata would be following in the footsteps of Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Bryan Robson.
Antonio Valencia gave up the number in the summer after taking it from Michael Owen when he left.
Other suggestions are number eight - previously worn by Anderson, who has joined Fiorentina on loan. Then there is the number nine shirt - which has remained absent since Dimitar Berbatov left in 2012.
Then there was quite a cheeky response from Arsenal fan Piers Morgan - who suggested Mata could wear number five.
The shirt number assigned to the perpetually crocked Rio Ferdinand - suggesting that the former England international no longer has any use for his shirt.
