On this day: Zaha 'delighted', Balotelli going nowhere and Hazard charged by FA

On the 25th January 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Manchester City, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Manchester United.

I am casting my eye back to this exact day, the 25th January 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 25th January 2013…

Signing me, signing you .... Zaha

The fee was agreed the day before - but it was this day 12 months ago that Manchester United officially announced the signature of Wilfried Zaha for £15 million from Crystal Palace.

The England international signed, and was immediately loaned back to Palace.

But he could not hide his delight at the move:

"I am delighted to be joining Manchester United. However, my focus for the next five months will be solely at Crystal Palace."

A year later, and Zaha looks set to go out on loan again - as he struggles to make his way into the United fold.

Super Mario bothers

Roberto Mancini was clear about one thing 12 months ago - Italian striker Mario Balotelli was going nowhere.

The controversial star had been heavily linked with a move away from the club for some time - but as rumours began to surface of interest from AC Milan, Mancini acted fast to deny a deal was on the cards:

"Yes, Mario has another three years on his contract. For two years, the first question is always Mario! I don't know but we don't have enough players. We are 18 players now. We can't sell any players."

Funny that Roberto - because four days later you sanctioned his €20 million move to the Rossoneri.

Supporting Eden project

Harry Redknapp joined the throng of people in the game to get behind Eden Hazard after he kicked a ball-boy during the clubs League Cup exit at the hands of Swansea City.

Redknapp stated:

“Hazard toe-poked the ball under the boy's body. Why is the kid lying on the ball in the first place? You can imagine the frustration - you're a player trying to reach a cup final but there's this kid behaving like an idiot who won't give you the ball back…The boy was tweeting before the game that he's a super time waster. The way he behaved was disgusting."

On the same day Hazard was charged by the FA - and rightly so!
