Manchester United far more likely to sign Bayern man next summer, claims Bundesliga expert

Despite reports linking Manchester United with a January move for Bayern Munich's Toni Kroos, David Moyes may have to wait until the summer.

Following David Moyes’ reported scouting mission to watch Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday, one player has been linked with Manchester United more than any other.

Despite Moyes reportedly being keen on Bayern’s Mario Mandzukic and Monchengladbach’s Patrick Herrmann, it was the man he sat next to during the match that dominated this morning’s headlines.

That man was the agent of Toni Kroos, the 24-year-old German international who is reportedly at something of an impasse in regards to contract negotiations with the reigning Bundesliga champions.

And just as with Dante last week, another Bayern man was suddenly thrust headlong into the United rumour mill.

This morning, ex-player and Bundesliga expert Jan Aage Fjortoft has had his say on the latest reports, and he believes Kroos is one of the three most-wanted players in Germany right now, along with Marco Reus and Julian Draxler. But he cannot see United getting their man just yet.

Fjortoft believes that if Bayern cannot agree a contract extension with Kroos – whose current deal expires in the summer of 2015 – he will be sold next summer.

So is Moyes sowing the seeds for substantial business at the end of the current campaign? Only time will tell.

But it is clear with the imminent arrival of Juan Mata, and the current work of Moyes and his scouting network, that United are likely to look considerably different to their current guise in the months and years to come.
