Julian Draxler

The man who revealed the Gunners’ move for Mesut Ozil has claimed that Arsene Wenger’s men are closing in on the Gelsenkirchen starlet.

Julian Draxler’s release clause and a potential switch to Arsenal has been one of the transfer sagas of the January transfer window, with contrasting reports to whether the German could be following a host of his countrymen to North London.

The latest person to weigh in with a piece of news is former Swindon Town striker Jan Aage Fjortoft, who is now a respected journalist in Germany after retiring.

The Norwegian was the first to reveal that Arsenal were in the hunt for Mesut Ozil in the summer transfer window, and as such must be regarded as a credible source.

Fjortoft has been giving updates on Arsenal’s reported pursuit of Draxler, and has revealed that the Premier League leaders have agreed a fee with the Bundesliga side for the playmaker.

Leading media sources in England have followed Fjortoft's lead and are now claiming that Draxler could well be on his way to Arsenal.
