Manchester United have suffered a dreadful run of form recently, which coincidentally has coincided with David Moyes not being able to select star striker Robin van Persie.
Although last season’s top goalscorer in the Premier League is heading back towards availability, the Old Trafford outfit have missed the Netherlands international in his absence.
Van Persie has missed his side’s last 11 games due to a thigh injury, with his last outing for Moyes’ men against Shakhtar Donetsk back on December 10.
The Dutch striker’s international colleague Michel Vorm has been speaking highly about the Manchester United man in his absence.
The Swansea goalkeeper has been on the receiving end of plenty of Van Persie shots in training for the Netherlands and in Premier League fixtures, and has spoken about just how good the ex-Arsenal man is.
"I've known Robin for years and cannot believe how he has developed into such a complete footballer," Vorm told De Telegraaf.
"For me, he is like Pele. I think Van Persie does so well. He is Dutch and a friend, but my God, he's good.
"Van Persie is more of a team player than Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero.
“I will never forget that he had the highest mileage in his last season at Arsenal for all other players in the Premier League. How can a striker do that?"
Although Vorm may well be getting carried away with his comparison with Pele, there is no doubt that Van Persie’s absence has really hurt United in a time when they need their best players firing.
The sooner that the Dutch star is back on the pitch again the better for Moyes’ men, with the Old Trafford faithful hoping to see their talisman against Cardiff on Tuesday night.
