The top five players linked with signing for Tottenham Hotspur this week: Guarin, Alderweireld and more

White Hart Lane 3

Inter Milan, Fulham, Atletico Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk and Burnley stars all feature.

Tottenham Hotspur have one of the best squads of players in the Premier League as Tim Sherwood looks to guide his side to a top four finish by the end of the season.

Sherwood’s team continue to be linked with new additions as speculation continues to hang over the future of key first team stars such as Etienne Capoue and German Lewis Holtby.

We’ve taken a look back at the stories from the past week, compiling the five best players who have been linked with signing for the club.

1) Fredy Guarin (Inter Milan)

The box-to-box midfielder has been linked with several Premier League sides but the Express has suggested Spurs are among the first to make a move. The paper claims Tottenham have made an offer of £8.2 million for the Inter star.

2) Dimitar Berbatov (Fulham)

Spurs have been linked with their former player for most of the month and there have been several reports this week suggesting a deal is still possible. Surely he couldn’t be a bad option for a fee of just £1.5 million?

3) Toby Alderweireld (Atletico Madrid)

The former Ajax man isn’t happy with the amount of football he’s been getting at the La Liga club. The Belgian’s comments appear to have prompted interest from Tottenham who could use Alderweireld to strengthen their current crop of defenders.

4) Bernard (Shakhtar Donetsk)

Spurs were linked with a loan deal for the former Arsenal target earlier this week. His agent revealed he has been talking to a number of clubs so doing a deal over the last part of the transfer possible remains an option.

5) Danny Ings (Burnley)

The in form Championship forward has bagged 21 goals so far this season and Spurs have been linked with a £5 million offer, which they believe will be good enough to sign Ings. It falls within Tottenham’s budget restrictions.
