Tottenham latest: Spurs bid for Chelsea target, Anderton on dugout trio 'hilarity'

Some of the main stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Friday evening.

Ex-Tottenham midfielder Darren Anderton has said it is ‘hilarious’ to see former teammates Tim Sherwood, Les Ferdinand and Steffen Freund in the Spurs dugout.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, Anderton has said the players will respond to the trio, and that they will work well together themselves.

He said: ‘You can already see that the team is more positive. It seems to me that they’re really going out to win games, whereas before it was a case of setting out not to get beat and if they could nick a goal, so be it. To me, that’s not the Tottenham way.’

Anderton has said it could come down to Spurs and Liverpool for the all-important fourth Champions League spot.

‘They’ve got a great chance. What Spurs have got for them is that the squad is very strong. As we get towards the end of the season, when injuries start stacking up, that will become a very important factor. I think it will come down to Spurs and Liverpool for that fourth spot.’

Meanwhile, Tim Sherwood has said he will not rush defender Younes Kaboul back from a thigh injury.

The Frenchman returned to full training and has played in a friendly as part of a Spurs XI that overcame West Ham 3-0 in midweek, but Sherwood has said he will be cautious in trying to get the player back into action.

‘We need to make sure he’s right before he comes back in because perhaps he’s dipped back in a little too early on recent occasions, and then we’re paying the price because he’s out for another eight to 10 weeks.’

On the transfer front, Tottenham have made an £8.2m bid for Chelsea target Fredy Guarin according to the Daily Express.

The Inter Milan midfielder is reported to have a £15m price tag.
