Transfer talk: Featuring Salah, Traore and Mata on a helicopter Manchester bound

Transfer news and gossip from Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton, Arsenal, Liverpool and Wigan Athletic.

There is no doubting what the biggest transfer story of the day is - as Manchester United look set to finalise the incredible £37 million swoop for Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata.

The two time Chelsea Player of the Year has been cast aside by Jose Mourinho this season as he does not fit in with his more industrious style of play.

United have reportedly agreed a fee with the player via a third-party and a move could be finalised by the weekend.

In the past hour we have even had a traditional transfer window helicopter mention - as United have reportedly marked out a landing pad for Mata to arrive at the club in the afternoon.

Away from the massive Mata story breaking today - and another Chelsea player has departed this morning.

Josh McEachran has moved to Wigan Athletic on loan until the end of the season.

The club unveiled the deal on their official Twitter account:

Arsene Wenger says it is ‘unlikely’ that any new faces will arrive at the club this winter. He told his press conference this morning:

"It looks very unlikely. It is 23 January today and at the moment I must say we are not close to doing anything….Overall we have a very strong squad. If something exceptional turns up we will do it...”

Everton boss Roberto Martinez is still hopeful of snapping up Lacina Traore on loan from AS Monaco - despite a serious looking knee injury to Radamel Falcao.

Falcao picked up the injury in a Coupe de France games last night - and it could rule him out for several weeks.

With that in mind Monaco may decide to keep Traore - however Martinez remains optimistic:

“We hope that is something which won't affect the decision of allowing Lacina to go out on loan."

Finally, and Chelsea may now be looking to pinch Mohamed Salah from the grip of Liverpool. The FC Basel attacker has long been linked with a move to the club in recent months - but Chelsea may move for the player after selling Kevin De Bruyne and allowing Juan Mata to speak too Manchester United.
