Yesterday we ran a poll asking Manchester United fans to vote on who they wanted the club’s priority signing to be this month and (at the time of writing) a third of the fans who took part would prefer to see former player Paul Pogba at the club over Juan Mata.
Mata was the stand out favourite with 60% of the vote, Pogba receiving 30% and the remaining 10% made up from votes for Leighton Baines, Dante and Luke Shaw of Southampton.
The one area of the current United side crying out to be refreshed is the midfield with several pundits agreeing David Moyes’ team need more creativity in the middle of the pitch, with former defender Gary Neville suggesting Adnan Januzaj was the only player showing any real quality against Sunderland last night.
The ultimate dream for United would be to have both Mata and Pogba in their midfield but fresh reports this morning have suggested French giants PSG are about to make a huge bid for the Juventus midfielder.
Mata is a necessary signing and has already proven to be a popular choice. The job for Moyes is to find a way to fit him into the current system, how to keep Wayne Rooney at the club and how to buy top, high profile players again this summer after the World Cup.
The results of our poll at the time of writing were;
Juan Mata 60%
Paul Pogba 30%
Luke Shaw 3%
Leighton Baines 2%
