Predicted Manchester City XI to play Watford - Plenty of changes for Pellegrini!

Match to be played on Saturday January 25 2014 at 15:00 GMT. Venue: Etihad Stadium, Manchester.

Manchester City will be extremely confident heading into the home FA Cup tie against Championship side Watford.

City have just secured their place in the Carling Cup final and they are well placed in both the Premier League and Champions League so they are building plenty of useful momentum.

Manuel Pellegrini is likely to make several changes to his side for this game. Here’s the side he could go with.

GK – Costel Pantilimon

Pantilimon has done a superb job when he’s been called upon this season and he’ll offer strength and leadership in the back four.

RB – Dedryck Boyata

Boyata has done a decent job at right-back this season and he deserves a chance to continue in the starting line-up.

CB – Joleon Lescott

This is a chance for Lescott to put forward a claim that he should be starting in the back four more frequently.

CB – Martin Demichelis

He’ll be fresh after he was an unused substitute against West Ham during mid-week and he’ll inject even more experience into the side.

LB – Gael Clichy

Clichy’s pace is going to be very useful if City get caught on the counter attack, as they’re bound to spend most of this game in Watford’s half.

RM – Jesus Navas

Navas has the ability to completely control this game for City down the right hand side. He’ll drift in, stay out wide and had the pace to track back.

CM – Javi Garcia

Garcia is a good player for Pellegrini to use in this game because he can offer protection to the defence during the rare periods Watford have some possession.

CM – Jack Rodwell

Rodwell will be urged to get on the ball and be the creative force which drives the team forward in this game.

LM – Marcos Lopes

Lopes completed the game against West Ham earlier this week and this will be another chance for him to get good first team experience.

ST – Stevan Jovetic

Jovetic hasn’t set the world alight since he joined the club last summer but he can get some goals and momentum if he starts.

ST – Eden Dzeko

Dzeko could be the man that City use right at the very top of their attack to back into the defence, creating space for others to move in and get on the ball.
