PICTURE: Newspaper prepared 'Moyes rescued by Hernandez' back page

The Sun created a headline ready to use last night which suggested Manchester United defeated Sunderland.

The Sun were a little premature last night as they prepared a back page for this morning’s paper suggesting Javier Hernandez rescued current boss David Moyes with a last gasp winner against Sunderland in the League Cup semi-final last night.

United were eventually edged out after a poor penalty shoot-out as Moyes’ side suffered their fifth defeat in six games across all competitions.

A win and the publication of the back page above would have provided United and the club’s fans with a huge lift, leaving them to prepare for a Manchester derby final against Manchester City.

However, Sunderland deserve huge credit for the way they played last night and the focus for United now switches to the Premier League and trying to battle through to the later stages of the Champions League.

Here’s to hoping that the next pre-prepared headline in favour of a United win actually gets to be used.
