This should give Manchester City and Sunderland fans reason to smile, if not Manchester United.
How to win a penalty shoot out pic.twitter.com/frcIwXwMaZ a piece once written by David Moyes himself, what irony!— John Aggrey (@Superjohna07) January 23, 2014
Penalty shootouts can be a lonely place, said none other than David Moyes, somewhat prophetically, as England lost the 2006 World Cup final to Portugal.
Eight years on and he's suffering heartbreak of his own, watching on somewhat helplessly as his Manchester United side scored just one of five attempts from 12 yards.
Moyes to his credit does have some success in penalty shootouts. His Everton side beat United in the 2009 FA Cup semi-final, and knocked Chelsea out of the competition two years later.
And many would agree the manager can do little when his players perform so woefully in high pressure scenarios, yet there can be few who would have expected it be quite as bad as it was last night.
