Bayern Munich star Dante has shed light on rumours linking him to Manchester United.
David Moyes is claimed to be scouting Bayern Munich defender Dante when he heads to Germany at the weekend to watch their match with Moenchengladbach, wrote The Telegraph.
The news was relayed to the Brazilian centre-back, who set the transfer rumour mill into overdrive earlier in the week by indicating he could be interested.
He was quoted as saying to Fox Sports Brasil: "I have not yet signed at United. I leave that in God's hands."
His use of the word yet implied discussions were ongoing and a transfer could indeed be imminent so his agent had to come out and stub out the rumours.
"There is no agreement with Manchester United,” Marcus Marin told The Independent.
“We are currently in negotiations with Bayern over a new year and his first option is to play there. He is very happy in Germany at the moment but if nothing can be arranged in the next few weeks then of course he would have to explore his options elsewhere."
Now the 30-year-old Bundesliga star has cleared up the tone of his quotes, hinting he never intended to cause a fuss.
He told German newspaper Bild that he was not being serious at all: "It was said in jest. I'm at the best club in the world. That would only be interesting if Bayern says to me, 'Go away.'"
Clearly from here-on-in talk surrounding Dante moving to Manchester United should not be taken seriously until his situation with Bayern changes.
If the defender is not taking the prospects of a transfer seriously, then it makes sense supporters of the Red Devils don't do the same in return.
